The state of Kerala located in South India is truly unique and varied. You will be close to nature with a multitude of landscapes (beaches, sea, mountains, jungle, countryside, plantations, lakes and rivers) which will unfold before your eyes, with visits to national parks, an elephant ride , a cruise on the water to discover the Backwaters. You will discover Cochin, the former Portuguese counter. You will attend a traditional performance of Kathakali, a local and traditional dance or Kalaripatayu, a form of martial art famous in Kerala. On the mountains of Munnar, you will go to discover tea plantations.
Kerala is a much visited region in India, known for its relaxing atmosphere in the mountains, for its treks in its national parks, for its freshly picked tea directly drunk in the cultures, for its Ayurvedic health care and massages, for Kovalam beaches where it is good to relax, for the kindness of its colorful, smiling and affable inhabitants, for its colorful and fragrant local markets on which you will be spoiled for choice for your souvenirs to bring back.

Day 1
Arrival in Kochi:

Reception at the airport by our local representative who will give you all your travel documents and the necessary and important details of your South India Kerala tour. Then transfer to your hotel with your driver. After a few hours of rest, visit the historic Fort Cochin district. At the end of the afternoon, walk by the sea to discover the Chinese plaice, these large fishing nets installed by local fishermen. It will also be time to enjoy a majestic sunset. Return and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2
Kochi - visit: all day:

Sightseeing of Cochin with your driver in a private vehicle with a visit to the Paradesi Synagogue (one of the seven largest synagogues in the region) located in the Old Town. Then visit the Mattancherry Palace, built by the Portuguese and which tells all by itself the political history of the Cochin peninsula. To change the mood, take a stroll through the colorful little market to buy souvenirs. In the evening, attend a traditional Kathakali show. Return and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3
Kochi - Guruvayur :

Take the road to Guruvayoor, a religious region in the north of Kerala. There is a big temple of god Krishna, followed by the Hindu religion and according to the rule only Hindus can visit the temple. Then walk outside the temple and visit the colorful and different markets. Afternoon visit Punnathoorkotta, which is a home for over fifty elephants which are well decorated for festivals and occassions in the temple. Night at the hotel.

Day 4
Guruvayur - Athirappilly - Munnar :

After breakfast, drive to Munnar through Athirappilly, see the large waterfalls with a beautiful view. Stop for a few minutes and afterwards the tour continues to Munnar – an area with tea and coffee plantations. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 5
Munnar - visit: all day:

Early in the morning, you can take the short hike organized by the hotel, through the tea plantations on the surrounding hills. The rest of the day is devoted to discovering the city of Munnar with a visit to the tea museum where you will attend the tea preparation ceremony. Visit of the great dam of Mattupetty then return and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6
Munnar - Periyar :

After breakfast, drive to Periyar, a national park in the south of Kerala. Along the way, you will discover superb landscapes of tea and coffee plantations. This region is also known for its varieties of local spices that grow there. Visit the spice garden with a guide who will explain the spices in detail. Arrival and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7
Periyar - Backwaters :

Early in the morning you can then, if you wish, take a boat ride on Lake Periyar. True sanctuary for a remarkable fauna, you will be able to admire there many animals (elephants, buffaloes, antelopes,) and many birds. After breakfast, drive to the Backwaters, a huge network of lagoons and canals with several large lakes such as Ashtamudi and Vembanad, bordered by lush nature and small authentic villages. Visit of villages in the Backwaters. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8
Backwaters - Houseboat :

After breakfast, you embark on a house-boat, a traditional floating house on Lake Vembanad. Welcome by the crew with welcome cocktail (local drink). You will have your lunch on the boat, prepared by your personal cook. You will spend an enchanting moment navigating the calm waters, observing the daily life of the inhabitants. Your day will be enhanced with tea and coffee served with cookies. Dinner on board.

Day 9
Houseboat - Kovalam :

After breakfast, drive to Kovalam, an area known for Ayurvedic massage and therapy in Kerala. Arrive and you will be free to walk by the beach. Return and overnight at the hotel.

Day 10
Kovalam - visit: all day:

Day dedicated to the visit of Kovalam with the discovery of its superb beaches. Then, either you will stay at the hotel to rest or you can have a traditional Ayurvedic massage which will allow you to rebalance your body.

Day 11
Kovalam - visit: all day:

Take an excursion to Kanyakumari, the southernmost city of India, known for the Vivekananda Memorial, located on a rocky islet and built in 1970 in honor of Vivekananda (Indian philosopher of Hinduism who lived in the 19th century century) and its Hindu temple located right next to the sea. Return to Kovalam and overnight at the hotel.

Day 12
Kovalam - Departure from Trivandrum airport:

After breakfast, transfer to Trivandrum International Airport, visit the area to buy souvenirs. Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to the International Airport to catch your return flight
